A cute and charming cactus that looks a little different than the stereotypical thorn-covered ball or spire we often see, Bunny Ears Cactus grows with round, flat pads. New pads form from the top of an old pad, and when it branches, it can look like a pair of rounded ears. It’s also very easy to care for; all Bunny Ears Cactus needs to thrive is a little bit of water and a lot of bright light. Give it this and it will reward you with abundant growth and little yellow flowers. It’s shipped fresh from our farm, direct to your door and price includes shipping, handling, and a heat pack if necessary.

  • Slow growing, but can get 2 feet tall and wide as it matures
  • Bunny Ears Cactus is a wonderful gift because of its low care needs
  • Easy to propagate and share

Plant Bio

Opuntia microdasys var Pallida

While many cacti have long spines, Bunny Ears Cactus bears clusters of very short yellow spines that dot the surface of its pad-like leaves. These spines can be quite sharp, but it’s easy to keep your distance from them. Originally native to Mexico, this cactus thrives indoors if you give it good light. Each plant branches differently, so each is their own unique work of art.
When you grow it indoors, give Bunny Ears Cactus an abundance of light. It should thrive within 1 to 3 feet of a large, unobstructed south- or west-facing window or the equivalent from plant lights. It likes average household temperatures and tolerates low humidity levels. Water it as the three-quarters or so of the potting mix dries to the touch. Avoid overwatering and keep it away from hot or cold drafts. Acclimate it to the sun prior to growing it outdoors if you wish to enjoy it outside. This will prevent unsightly sunburn.

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. It is grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption.
